Matthew Bass went to Plano East High School in Plano, Texas. He was on Varsity for 2 years as a catcher and corner infielder. He played in 33 games and had a career batting average of .357.

After he graduated high school in 2020 Matthew went to play for TCS post grad where after a year of playing got picked up by Clarendon College a Division 1 Community College in Texas. He played 1st and 3rd there for two years playing 96 games, hitting .261, on base percentage of .432, 60 RBI, and 5 career homeruns. Matthew plans on becoming a high school coach and history teacher after he graduates UNT in 2 years.
